Council Chamber on Friday, May 11th. 1923, at 5 p.m.

1. The Minutes of the 97th. Meeting of the Council held on April 6th. 1923, having been circulated were confirmed and signed.

2. The Minutes of the 91st. and 92nd. Meetings of the Senate held on February 12th. and April 5th. 1923, respectively, were laid on the table.

3. The Minutes of the 7th. Meeting of the Finance Committee for the Session 1922 held on December 15th. 1922, and the 1st. Meeting of the Finance Committee for the Session 1923 held on March 28th. 1923, were laid on the table.

4. The Council appointed the attached list of External Examiners for the Final Examination in the Engineering Faculty to be held in May 1923. (See Appendix 1)

5. The Council took notice of the re-appointment by the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce of Mr. G. T. Edkins as Representative of that Chamber on the Council and Finance Committee of the University for the year 1923, Univer- sity Ordinance, 2nd. Schedule, Statute 7 and Statute 9a.

6. The Council, on the recommendation of the Senate, appointed the fo- llowing Invigilators for the Matriculation Examination to be held in June 1923:- .Rev. C. B. Shann, (Senior Invigilator)

7. The Council, on the recommendation of the Senate, appointed the firm of Messrs. Lowe, Bingham and Matthews as Lecturers in Elementary and Advanced Accounting for the year 1923, and until further notice: the remuneration to be an inclusive fee of $2,500 per annum for courses of four lectures a week (with exercises) for 30 weeks, together with the practical facilities hitherto granted and upon a pro-rata basis for shorter courses.
